What is the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 and why does it make a difference
UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 is the global reference standard for Quality Management Systems: but rather than a simple list of requirements, it represents a structured organisational model for improving company performance.
Introduced in 1987 and updated in its current version in 2015 (with a new revision planned by the end of 2025), the standard has gradually broadened its scope, evolving to become a real strategic tool.
Among the most relevant novelties of the latest version was the adoption of the High-Level Structure (HLS), a common organisational structure with 10 main chapters, the same for all the latest ISO standards: this enables companies to easily integrate several management systems (quality, environment, safety, etc.) without having to treat them as separate entities.
At the heart of ISO 9001:2015 are 7 fundamental principles:
- Customer orientation: satisfying the customer is at the heart of everything. ISO 9001:2015 promotes active listening, managing and systematically collecting feedback and taking corrective action to continuously improve the product or service.
- Leadership: quality starts from the top and in fact ISO 9001:2015 challenges management to steer the entire quality system, defining clear objectives, motivating the appropriate resources, and thus constructing a coherent organisational context.
- Staff involvement: knowing the environment in which you operate is the first step to governing it. ISO 9001:2015 requires a thorough assessment of the internal and external context, as well as a precise mapping of stakeholders: customers, suppliers, employees, public and private stakeholders.
- Process approach: each business activity must be managed as part of a larger system: optimising it individually is not enough, an integrated view is needed. ISO 9001:2015 promotes an interconnected and transparent organisation, effectively linking all business functions.
- Continuous improvement: only what is measured can be improved. The standard requires rigorous monitoring of performance: through internal audits, KPIs and periodic reviews, organisations monitor the effectiveness of the QMS and plan corrective actions.
- Evidence-based decisions: choices are not improvised, and quality is based on rational choices supported by reliable data. Therefore, ISO 9001:2015 encourages companies to base decisions on objective evidence, minimising risk and subjectivity.
- Relationship management: a stable and collaborative supply chain is essential to ensure the quality of the end product. This is why ISO 9001 promotes transparent and lasting partnerships.
In addition to the guarantee of compliance, ISO certification translates into concrete benefits: increased operational efficiency, traceability, productivity and a better reputation in the market. In short, an accelerator of value.

UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 standard: quality in accordance with RGPBALLS
At RGPBALLS, quality is a transversal and integrated principle at every stage, from design to production and delivery.
In fact, our in-house specialised laboratories are at the heart of our quality control centre.
- The Metallographic Laboratory performs sophisticated microstructural checks to assess the strength, purity and suitability of materials.
- In the Metrological Laboratory, high-precision measurements of dimensional and physical characteristics and tolerances take place.
Thanks to these facilities, we can anticipate problems rather than just detect them, and offer reliable solutions for every major application according to the main standards: UNI EN ISO 9001:2015, UNI EN ISO 45001:2018, UNI EN ISO 14001:2015. The fact that we have also obtained the Production Process and Product Inspection Process and, recently, ItalyX 2025, testifies to our constant commitment to quality.
