RUBBER BALLS
Modern technology provides so many elastomers from which we may choose the most appropriate one for production of special mixes compatible with any kind of fluid..
The balls produced using these kinds of materials are characterised by very tight tolerances. These balls are extremely versatile and silent in addition to their characteristics of resistance to corrosion and the fact that they do not require lubrication.
The most common applications include safety and non return valves, pumps, special light bearings, drink dispensers, battery indicators and medical equipment.
Special rubber meltings are produced on request for highly specific applications,
such as exposure to steam, corrosive fluids or high
temperatures.
Rubber coated balls (with metal core) are available
on request.
N B R (NITRILE RUBBER)
This is the most versatile elastomer quite suitable to cover housing defects.
NBR balls are made of a special mixture with a specific Shore hardness of 70 for applications where the ball is exposed to a range of hydraulic fluids or water-based products. This type of mix is particularly suitable for grinding to tight tolerances for this kind of soft material. Using centreless grinding machines, it is possible to work to optimum tolerances for both roundness and diameter. Automatic calibration and measurement systems are used to ensure further dimensional and quality checks on the production line.
NBR balls are resistant to water, oils and mineral grease, aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols and saline solutions.
E P D M (ETHYLENE PROPYLENE)
EPDM balls are particularly resistant to acetic acid, acetone, ammonia, strong alcalis, ether, ethylene oxide, ozone, hydrofluoric and nitric acids (low concentrations). Material recommended for high temperatures in water or steam and for water-based chemical solutions.
VITON (FLUORO-ELASTOMER)
This material is well-known for its resistance to corrosive fluids. Viton balls are exceptionally resistant to heat up to +220 °C and water, steam, ozone, alcohols, diluted and concentrated acids, diluted and concentrated alcalis, and saline solutions.
V M Q (SILICONE)
Silicone balls are resistant up to +200 °C to oi and vegetable grease, ozone, alcalis and diluted acids. This material is strongly recommended for both low and high temperatures.
POLYURETHANE (see also the section on plastic)
The rigidity of the ball made of this kind of material is intermediate between rubber and thermoplastics. They are highly resistant to breakage, traction and abrasion.
